All Superleague 15s players for 2008 are requested to pay their caravan and t-shirts fees to Derek Easton or handed into Coppies bar before the 30th of August.
The Fee for this year is £40 A full turn-out of 16 was present for the first Thursday Comp in Coppies Bar. First round casualties included Derek Easton losing to John Watson and John Reid losing to Mark Ramsay. Alan Kerr was the first to book a semi spot beating Billy Meikle in a some what controversial match. Nicky Balic would be his opponent having dispatched of paul. The other semi would consist of John Watson and Alan Gordon having seen off Rab Peebles and Mark. Alan Gordon continued his good form to beat John and reach the final. Alan Kerr beat Nicky in the other semi but had to leave before the final. Congratulations to Alan Gordon winning the comp and picking up the £80 winners prize. The Bentswood was the venue for the Last8 of the 2008 league singles, all 8 having qualified by winning at there venue several months ago.First up to book their place in the semi was Garry Brown taking down Gordon Armour 2-0, followed by favourite Derek Easton beating 2006 Champ Ian Hentges. Defending Champion Crawford Neil was next to book his place with a comfortable 2-0 win over Des Ridd and would play Gerry O'Rourke in the semi as his opponent failed to show up. Bentswoods own Garry Brown was first to reach the final on a last frame decider against Gerry fae the welly. Defending champ Crawford would be his opponent after dispatching of pre-tourny fav Derek Easton. Congratulations to Crawford Neil on defending his title after beating Garry Brown 2-0 in the final. buy.at/spa is a simple concept. All online purchases made via the links on the buy.at/spa web pages generate commission for the Scottish Pool Association. When you click a retailer's link on buy.at/spa you will be taken to that retailer's web site. They are responsible for your order. When you place your order funds are raised for the SPA. So ideally SPA members will get into the way of using buy.at/spa as their first port of call for online purchases. It's worth emphasizing that purchases are made at no extra cost to members than had they gone straight to the purchase site..... the only difference is that the SPA raise funds at the same time when you go through buy.at/spa. The way to see commission rates is by clicking the A-Z tab on buy.at/spa. ![]() Derek follows in the footsteps of previous Captains, Alan Kerr (1), Ian Hentges (4), Jimmy Wilson (1), Jim Gilmour (1) and Keith Robertson (1) in recent times. Derek plays with the current Whitburn Pool League Champions Coppies Bar and The Whitburn Legion pool team in the Livi League. Since reaching the Quarter-Finals of the Superleague 15,s 3years ago, Whitburn has failed to deliver in this comp and hopefully Derek can be the man to set that straight. |
